The New Household Pests

When you hear the term household pest, you immediately think of rats, mice, ants, flies and cockroaches. There is a little chance that a brown, slow moving, shield-shaped bug will top your list. But now, it should. These seemingly harmless and gentle insects deserve your great attention and caution. Yes, these insects, known as stink bugs, don’t usually bite and they don’t carry or transmit diseases. However, there is a very good reason why there has been a boom in the market of stink bug control products across the United States.

If your home is starting to harbor hibernating stink bugs, it is highly recommended that you use rescue stink bug traps and other stink bug control products to get rid of them before the infestation gets out of control. Stink bugs are active all throughout America. Although they are generally found in the garden, stink bugs try to find their way into homes and structures once fall evenings start to turn cold. These insects acquired their name from their natural way of defense against attackers and enemies which is to release a pungent odor that enables them to avoid getting eaten by lizards and several species of birds. Once released onto a surface, the odor will last a long time, from a couple of hours to a number of days depending on how the situation is handled.

Aside from the distinctive unpleasant smell that stink bugs release from their abdomen whenever they feel threatened or irritated, some people have an allergic reaction to such secretion.
